Synchronisation in facsimile transmission

In the system described, there is a valve-driven tuning fork at both the sending and receiving ends. The frequency of the transmitting fork is sent over the link to the receiving end where it is suitably amplified and fed into the circuit of the driving valve, thus holding the receiving fork in exact synchronism with the transmitting fork.
