The advection-diffusion of a concentration distribution in axial flow in an eccentric annulus is of importance to oilfield operations such as cementing where a non-Newtonian drilling fluid in the annular gap between the steel casing and the borehole wall must be displaced by a second non-Newtonian fluid, cement, to proved mechanical stability to the borehole, block the ingress of fluids from non-productive zones, and prevent the loss of oil to thief zones.
