Technology to Impact Software Development Productivity (NOT KNOWN IF PUBLISHED BECAUSE AUTHOR HAS LEFT AT&T)

Significant productivity gains have been realized in a number of AT&T software development projects through new technology that facilitates the application of our software development methodology. This paper describes three technologies that have improved the productivity of large software development teams in a significant way. The first is a powerful product administration system (SABLE) that permits changes throughout the product life cycle to be controlled and the pieces of the system to be put together ("built") efficiently and effectively. In this manner, tight and effective control of the product can be maintained throughout the development process.
