Technology Trends in Packaging of Portable Wireless Products

The tremendous growth in wireless communications is being fueled by three confluent trends: 1) the availability of new frequency spectrum at 1.9 GHz enabling a wide array of digital services, 2) the explosive growth of data networks such as the internet, and 3) the continued evolution of wireless terminals with far greater capabilities and more compact, portable designs. Packaging is a key enabler of wireless terminals since it controls the product size, weight and functionality.
