Teleprinter network of the Berlin police administration
14 August 1932
In the year 1853 the Berlin Police operated a Morse telegraph network. This was later replaced by step-by-step tickers to increase the capacity of the system. Recently the Ministry has installed a modern teleprinter network. The use of their own cable network has been abandoned. Also, the system of loop working has been replaced by a system permitting maximum intercommunication by means of switching centres. Individual or group communications may be effected, or the entire network can be signalled. The teleprinters employed are of the Lorenz-Kleinschmidt type, and automatic transmission is used when required.
