The Advanced Traffic Observation and Management Information Collecting System (Atomics)

The Advanced Traffic Observation and Management Information Collecting System is a state-of-the-art, minicomputer-based traffic operations system designed to help NTT manage its toll communications network in Japan. ATOMICS was achieved through the combined engineering efforts of and close cooperation between NTT and AT&T. The system began operation at central sites in 1986, and full deployment throughout Japan is expected by 1988.
