The AT&T Library Network: Getting Ready for Electronic Copying
09 February 1989
The AT&T Library Network, consisting of 55 information service providers throughout the United States, has begun to use optical storage to deliver its vast collection of internal memoranda to internal requestors thoughout AT&T. The same customer and operational needs driving the use of this technology for internal memoranda are driving the quest for optical storage and delivery of published material. Intense turnaround time pressures, copy quality problems, decreasing staff, lack of physical storage space, and increasing volume all contribute to the Library Network's pursuit of new means to store, retrieve, and distribute published and unpublished materials.
