The Cosmic Alarm Monitoring System for ACCUNET(R) T1.5 with CCR
11 February 1990
The Customer Operations Service Management Interface Control (COSMIC) prototype was developed for the AT&T Customer Controlled Reconfigurable (CCR) service function of ACCUNET(R) T1.5. This prototype of a Network Management system displays service-disrupting alarms with color graphics in real time and stores this data for historical analysis by the AT&T technicians that operate and maintain CCR. The purpose was to get feedback from the users and define better requirements for a permanent Operation Systems that will perform the network alarms monitoring and analysis features. From the technical point of view, the COSMIC prototype allows us to study the feasibility of integrating the newest hardware and software technologies to help the network operations and management personnel. Our significant benefit is that the work center technicians can use the alarm monitoring features long before the same features are available in the permanent system(s). COSMIC also demonstrated many of the AT&T Unified Network Management Architecture (UNMA) fault management capabilities of an integrated network management tool.
