The relative importance of various mechanisms thought to be responsible for large strain effects in A-15 superconducting composites. Measurements of the critical properties and the low temperature heat capacity in samples with different degrees of internal strain are in qualitative agreement with electronic density of states model. Within experimental error we see no changes in the lattice heat capacity and thus no evidence for the support of strain models based on the phonon anharmonicity.
