The electronic structure of graphitic overlayers on Ni{100}.
01 January 1986
Angle-resolved photoemission studies of graphitic overlayers on Ni{100} show the C 2p(z) and 2s states characteristic of bulk graphite and quite different from the carbide (2x2) C phase on this surface, despite the poor long range order of these overlayers. Possible reasons for rigid shifts of the graphite bands by up to 1.5 eV relative to those of bulk graphite are discussed.
