The Frohlich interaction in 2D-GaAs/Al sub x Ga sub (1-x) As systems.

The scattering of carriers by polar optical phonons due to the Frohlich interaction is studied in undoped GaAs/Al sub x Ga sub (1-x) As quantum wells by tracing the heating of cold carriers in a hot lattice with transient photoluminescence spectra. The Frohlich interaction proves to be (within an experimental uncertainty of +-50%) independent of the dimensionality of the system, independent of quantum well thickness, and independent of carrier density.
