The Future X Network: The Future of Enterprise LAN
29 July 2015
Over the last decade, wireless technology has become the dominant means for device connectivity, and the days of wired Ethernet are effectively over- however it has yet to transform enterprise device connectivity to the same extent. And, in consequence, the level of innovation that has characterized the mobile device ecosystem has been largely absent in the enterprise space, resulting in an environment that remains rooted in the original telephony communications technology paradigm of the desktop phone and the Ethernet LAN to the computing terminals. The rise of the phenomenon of Bring Your Own Device, has resulted in a consumer-employee driven insurgency that has started a revolution in enterprise networking. This revolution will be fueled by further technological invasion from the consumer networking-driven telecommunications space to bring about the ultimate demise of wired networking device connectivity. The future Enterprise LAN will be an invisible all-wireless network, transparently bringing secure, wireless connectivity to enterprise users and visitors to the space. This new network will remove the tether between the employee and physical space office, meeting rooms, buildings, locations, and simultaneously enable the connection of digital things that manage and monitor the enterprise infrastructure and processes, automatically tailoring service to the needs of each application and device.
