The Physical Design Approach for the SEME Enhanced Modular Signal Processor (EMSP)
12 June 1989
AT&T is currently designing a powerful, lightweight, and reliable airborne Enhanced Modular Signal Processor (EMSP) based on the data flow architecture of the Navy standard AN/UYS-2. The implementation of this system relies on the extensive use of VHSIC I type device technology, and the successful design of a Format E Standard Electronic Module (SEM). The electrical, mechanical and thermal design requirements for the SEM become more demanding because of the use of VHSIC type technology. Therefore, an innovative AT&T SEM E design approach, which addresses these requirements, will be discussed.
