The preparation of low spin trans-polyacetylene.
01 January 1986
At low doping levels, the transport properties of trans-polyacetylene are thought to be dominated by pi radicals (neutral solitons). The lack of trans-polyacetylene samples containing various spin levels has greatly hindered the study of this spin-conductivity relationship. In this communication, a synthetic route to trans-polyacetylene containing at least an order of magnitude fewer spins than standard samples is described.
