With the proliferation of high-speed computers and microprocessor- controlled commercial products with associated fast rise time clocks used next to sensitive electronics, all immersed in a typical RF environment punctuated by TV and broadcast transmitters, the need for designing electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) into commercial products has intensified. Since most products are marked world-wide, such products must also meet mandatory and contract-imposed EMC requirements worldwide. Manufacturers want to be in a position of marketing a single product that meets all the EMC requirements no matter where in the world. This means that a single set of harmonized standards is highly desirable.
