The Role of Analog AM Transmission
07 September 1989
The long term potential of Fiber-to-the-Home (FITH) is the utility to the end customer of the new and varied services possible when a wideband transport medium, such as optical fiber, is available to transport these services. And this in turn, represents new revenues to the providers and transporters of these services. However, one faces the classical `chicken and egg` problem here. Without the availability of the wideband medium, these new services will not be developed and, if the deployment of the wideband medium depends on near term revenues derivable from these new services, the medium will not be installed.
