Values for the thermal conductivity k and the thermal diffusivity D of four oxide single crystals have been obtained. Near room temperature the values for k (W.cm sup (-1)K sup (-1) and D (cm sup 2s sup (-1)) are: LaAlO sub 3, k= 0.115, D = 0.0446; NdGaO sub 3, k= 0.068, D = 0.0197 for one structural orientation, and k = 0.059, D = 0.0195 for an orthogonal orientation; (LaAlO sub 3) sub (0.3)-SrAl sub (0.5) Ta sub (0.5) O sub 3, k=0. 051, D=0.0133; and, ScAlMgO sub 4, k =0.062, D = 0.0229. The relative standard uncertainties in these values are +- 10% (1 sigma). These values allow us to calculate the specific heat of the matrials. The thermal conductivity was measured by a dc heated bar method and the thermal diffusivity by a modification of Angstrom's method.
