Thermodynamic stability of II-VI semiconductor-polysulfide photoelectrochemical systems.
01 January 1986
The thermodynamics of (photoelectro) chemical reactions between II-VI semiconductors and (poly)sulfide electrolytes are treated by relating the energetic position of corrosion reactions to those of the band edges. The calculations take into account follow-up reactions as well as changes due to initial instability of the semiconductor. The results of these calculations, together with kinetic factors, are used to explain or predict the behavior of Cd- and Zn- chalcogenide/(poly)sulfide photoelectrochemical systems.
