Trends in Computer Aided Design Technology for Electronic Systems
01 November 1988
Computer aided design tools continue to be enhanced to keep pace with the progress of silicon technology. The tools not only continue to keep pace with the growing complexity of VLSI designs, but are improving their capability to optimize chip area and performance. The ability to manage mixed analog and digital designs is also being added. In addition, the tools are going beyond the chip level to help designers manage the complexity of system designs that use VLSI. This is being achieved through advances in high-level synthesis tools, behavioral simulation, and integration with chip design tools. This talk will review recent progress in these areas.
