Tunable optical dispersion compensation of a 107-Gb/s duobinary signal over a 560-ps/nm range
01 January 2006
We show that a tunable optical dispersion compensator (TODC) designed for 40-Gb/s signals on a 100-GHz frequency grid can be used in conjunction with a two-tap optical equalizer to compensate a 107-Gb/s duobinary signal over a large dispersion range. Using a 100-GHz-free-spectral-range arrayed-waveguide grating-based TODC with a high spectral efficiency and low group-delay ripple, we demonstrate a 560-ps/nm tuning range with less than 1-dB penalty over the back-to-back case.
