Tunneling systems in superconducting YBa sub 2 Cu sub 3 O sub 7.

Low energy atomic tunneling has been observed by acoustic methods in the superconductor YBa sub 2 Cu sub 3 O sub 7 at very low temperature. An estimate of the tunneling system density of states yields a magnitude sufficient to account for the linear term observed in recent heat capacity measurements.
