White Noise Filtered C-band Tunable Laser for Coherent Transmission Systems

The white frequency noise of a C-band tunable laser is suppressed significantly by optical filtering with a multi-channel ultra-narrowband fiber Bragg grating. This noise suppression is shown to improve the performance of 5-Gbaud PDM-64QAM by 1.7 dB. OCIS codes: (250.5960) Semiconductor lasers; (060.3735) Fiber Bragg gratings.
