In June 1981 the first DCS was introduced in Cedar Knolls, NJ. The ability to remotely configure nXDSO circuits created new services and increased network efficiencies. Since 1981, new concepts have been pursued that can build on the concept of remote provisioning and at the same time accommodate 'bandwidth on demand'.
