Workload Characterization in PBX Performance Studies
01 January 1988
Performance studies during the development cycle of a switching system may be used to predict system capacity, compare and contrast architectural, refine ad hoc scheduling decisions and estimate the impact of new services. Studies of this kind usually employ queueing models because essential performance questions are intimately related to contention for resources. Capacity questions, for example, are related to contention for processor real-time.
