Zayo addressed their IP backbone issues with Nokia's IP network architecture

Zayo faces increasing demands for expanded connectivity in new markets and lit buildings. Key issues included reducing exposure to single points of failure, minimizing network congestion, ensuring stable and resilient performance across its IP backbone, and scaling to meet growing bandwidth requirements for 400G and 800G services.

The solution

To overcome these issues and transform their IP network infrastructure, Zayo partnered with Nokia to deploy a next-generation IP network architecture, replacing the existing provider-edge infrastructure. This involved implementing Nokia’s FP5-based 7750 Service Router (SR) and 7250 Interconnect Router (IXR). Deployments began in New York and New Jersey, with plans to expand to additional markets and thousands of lit buildings.
