Zayo transforms IP network with Nokia for future-ready connectivity

Zayo Group partnered with Nokia to deploy a next-generation IP network architecture based on Nokia’s high-performance IP routers, powered by its advanced FP5 silicon. This solution enhances Zayo’s network connectivity and provides customers with faster, broader services—including cloud access, data-center connectivity, and secure high-speed links.

Zayo is a global communications infrastructure leader with over 19 million fiber miles and 148 000 route miles, connecting 400+ markets and 1 500+ on-net data centers. It delivers high-capacity, low-latency services to corporations, cloud providers, enterprises, and institutions worldwide.

Enhancing its IP network infrastructure allows Zayo to deploy connectivity services in new markets and bring more lit buildings online in record time, enabling the company to expand its reach and quickly respond to changing market conditions. Their ability to rapidly deliver high-capacity infrastructure closer to its end user means they can more quickly respond to meet growing bandwidth demand — including delivering 400G and 800G-capable services at scale — to support the next wave of cloud and edge computing and enable faster access to digital services for its customers.

Zayo partnered with Nokia to deploy a next-generation IP network architecture, replacing the existing provider-edge infrastructure. This involved implementing Nokia’s FP5-based 7750 Service Router (SR) and 7250 Interconnect Router (IXR). Deployments began in New York and New Jersey, with plans to expand to additional markets and thousands of lit buildings.
