Mobile World Congress 2026

Together with our customers and partners, Nokia showcased how we are advancing AI-native network evolution to lead in the transformative AI era. We demonstrated how our technology solutions help our customers stay competitive, simplify operations through advanced automation and unlock new growth.

Throughout the week, Nokia presented a powerful narrative centered on three key themes:

• AI as the structural workload of the network economy
• 6G and the shift to AI-native, cross-domain architectures
• System-level coordination and transparency as a basis for trust in networks

At the Nokia booth, attendees experienced how we are advancing connectivity for the AI supercycle. We showcased over 20 demos spanning mobile, fixed and transport networks, organized around performance, automation and monetization. Our demonstrations focused on technologies that help telecommunication providers deliver optimized connectivity for AI workloads, automate networks, and generate new revenue streams.

• Nokia announced significant progress with its strategic AI-RAN partnership with NVIDIA(opens in a new window), including new customer integrations and functional tests of telecom and AI workloads running on the same GPU-accelerated platform, advancing the path toward commercial AI-RAN.
• Nokia announced the new AI-ready Doksuri Radios(opens in a new window), an addition to the industry-leading AirScale portfolio and a key enabler in the evolving AI-RAN ecosystem.
• Nokia announced a partnership with Telia (opens in a new window)to develop and test AI-driven RAN use cases and commercial AI-enabled applications for different industries.
• Nokia announced a new collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) for an industry-first, intent-based agentic AI slicing(opens in a new window) solution for 5G. Orange and du are the first telecommunication providers to pilot the solution.
• Telefónica selected Nokia to provide connectivity for its distributed edge node infrastructure(opens in a new window), which supports AI training and inferencing at the network edge.
• Nokia and Ericsson announced a landmark collaboration to accelerate autonomous networks(opens in a new window). Both companies will become members of their respective SMO marketplace and rApp ecosystem.
• Nokia expanded its long-term strategic partnership with Deutsche Telekom(opens in a new window) on AI-native networks and Open RAN.
• Nokia announced an expansion of its 5G contract with TIM Brasil(opens in a new window), enabling TIM to deliver AI-based solutions to enterprises by leveraging NVIDIA AI-RAN platforms.
• Nokia expanded its Network as Code ecosystem(opens in a new window) with multiple telecommunication providers joining and is advancing API-based agentic AI with Google Cloud.

We demonstrated architecture for 6G, focusing strongly on AI-native, programmable networks, AI-RAN, and immersive services.

Nokia has showcased several technologies providing enterprise benefit. Below you can find few examples:

• AI-RAN - runs AI workloads inside telecom networks
• Network as Code - accessing network capabilities via APIs
• AI network slicing - dedicated network performance for business apps
• Private 5G networks - secure connectivity for factories, ports, mines
• XR immersive services - future remote collaboration and training

Our report(opens in a new window) suggests that the growing volume of AI-driven autonomous activity will mean 37% of total network AI traffic will be machine-generated by 2034. When this is combined with other traffic sources, it is expected to drive a threefold increase in inter-datacenter traffic and will significantly elevate the importance of resilient, efficient and secure connectivity.

For telecommunication providers, immersive and interactive services and the emerging physical AI use cases make networks more sensitive to delays as real-time interaction becomes central to the experience. Networks must deliver consistently smooth performance through deterministic connectivity, which means guaranteeing low latency and tightly controlled jitter, not just adding more bandwidth.

For communications networks, this means that traffic becomes more distributed and variable, with sudden bursts of tokens generated by AI systems. Unified, end-to-end coordination across RAN, edge, core, optical, IP and cloud is critical.
