Course overview

The Nokia IP Networks and Services Fundamentals course is the starting point for the Service Routing Certification program. It is designed for students who begin with a limited knowledge of IP and Ethernet technologies. Upon successful completion of this course, students will be familiar with the basics of the TCP/IP layered model, Ethernet, Internet addressing and packet forwarding, routing protocols, MPLS tunneling, and virtual private network (VPN) services. All use cases and lab exercises are based on the model-driven command-line interface (MD-CLI).

Course objectives

After completing the course, students should be able to:

  •     Describe the basics of the TCP/IP layered model
  •     Identify where in the network the products of the Nokia Service Router family are being used
  •     Perform basic configuration with the command line interface of the Nokia 7750 Service Router
  •     Explain the purpose and operation of the Ethernet protocol
  •     Describe the Internet Protocol (IP) addressing and forwarding process
  •     Explain the difference between static routing and dynamic routing protocols
