At Nokia, quality is a year-round fixation, which is what we showcase in the company’s most prestigious recognition program – the CEO-sponsored Nokia Quality Awards™. It begins in the spring, when internal teams representing thousands of employees as well as external supplier teams submit their quality success stories to compete for this top honor. Over the summer, hundreds of applications undergo a rigorous assessment process to select the most impressive achievements. The finalists then travel to Finland in autumn to present their case to an executive panel of judges and enter the Nokia Quality Hall of Fame.
Always a gala celebration, this year was even more so given that 2018 marked the 20th anniversary of the Nokia Quality Awards. And the finalists did not disappoint, each demonstrating that excellence is the result of people committing themselves to doing it right the first time and better than the last time.
Today, we bring this positive spirit to World Quality Day, joining other organizations around the globe in honoring quality focus and its beneficial impact on customers and business.
At Nokia, our Quality Day actually lasts more than a week. We kicked off an 8-day countdown leading up to November 8, with each day bringing new activities, sharing best practices, and sparking thought-provoking dialogues. Events, both local and global, were held across Nokia. From employees posting video diaries, to site-wide coding games, to quality knowledge contests, all events were dedicated to reminding employees that exceptional quality matters.
This is how – day-in and day-out – we earn our customers’ trust. A passion for quality is at the heart of Nokia’s culture, what we refer to as living quality.
